The 7 Pot Douglah (also known as Chocolate 7 Pot or 7 Pod Douglah) is a legend from the island of Trinidad and Tobago. The name "7 Pot" derives from the local belief that just one fruit is enough to spice seven pots of stew. It belongs to the Capsicum chinense species and is consistently ranked among the strongest in the world.
Heat Level (Ultra Pungent/Nuclear): The 7 Pot Douglah is one of the hottest non-hybrid peppers. Its heat can range between 1,523,000 to 1,853,986 SHU. At its peak, it is comparable to the Carolina Reaper. The heat is intense and overwhelming, with a sensation that lingers and increases.
Rich and Complex Flavor: Its flavor is its great differentiator from other super hots. It is earthy and fruity, with notes reminiscent of cocoa or dark chocolate, plus a smoky touch and sometimes nutty tones.
Shape and Color: The fruits are irregularly shaped, with a rough and wrinkled surface. The ripening color is a striking dark chocolate-brown.
Usage: Highly sought after for creating gourmet hot sauces and dehydrated powders. It harmonizes perfectly with robust and full-bodied dishes like chili, stews, and beef or game meats.
