The Orange Bhut Jolokia is a natural phenotype of the world-famous Ghost Pepper from Northeast India. As the first pepper to officially break the 1 million SHU barrier, it is legendary for its "creeping" heat that builds slowly and lingers for several minutes—hence the name "Ghost Pepper".
Classified as Nuclear (Extreme heat), it ranges between 800,000 and 1,041,427 SHU. It is up to 400 times hotter than Tabasco. The flavor profile is unique among super-hots, offering fruity and sweet initial notes followed by smoky or earthy undertones before the intense heat takes over.
The fruits are elongated and wrinkled, ripening to a vibrant, intense orange. This variety is known to be one of the most productive among the Bhut Jolokias. It is a star ingredient for artisanal hot sauces, spicy oils, and Indian curries. Its orange hue is perfect for sauces based on carrots, pumpkin, or tropical fruits like mango.
