The Carolina Tiger is an extremely potent and visually appealing hybrid, which combines the power of the legendary Carolina Reaper with the aesthetic characteristics of the Pink Tiger (a cross between Bhut Jolokia and Pimenta de Neyde). This Capsicum chinense species pepper is a favorite among collectors seeking extreme heat and ornamental beauty in the same plant.
Degree of Pungency (Nuclear): The Carolina Tiger inherits its stratospheric pungency from the Carolina Reaper, which places it firmly at the top of the Scoville Scale. Its potency easily exceeds 1,200,000 SHU and, under ideal conditions, can be comparable to the Reaper itself, approaching 2,000,000 SHU. The heat is aggressive, long-lasting, and extremely intense.
Fruity and Floral Flavor: Its flavor profile is a fusion of the sweet and fruity of the Carolina Reaper with the floral and earthy notes of the Tiger/Neyde line. The result is a complex flavor: initially sweet and floral, which is quickly replaced by a wave of burning and lasting heat. It is a Super Hot flavor with more layers.
Shape and Color: The fruits have the wrinkled and twisted shape typical of the Reaper, often ending in the characteristic "scorpion tail". The color is its trademark: they mature from a dark purple tone (due to Neyde genetics) to a purple-red or deep purple, sometimes with the streaks or spots that link it to the Pink Tiger, making each pepper unique.
Plant Appearance: The plant is imposing, vigorous, and productive, with very dark foliage (green to dark purple) that makes it a standout in the garden.
The Carolina Tiger satisfies the need for extreme heat with a dramatic look and a flavor that rewards the risk.
