The Mini Olive Rocoto is a variation of the legendary Rocoto (Capsicum pubescens), native to the Andes. It is one of the few peppers that tolerates cold and is famous for its unique traits: black seeds and hairy leaves. Its name comes from its small, olive-like shape and unique color when ripe.
Classified as Hot, it ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 SHU. What makes the Rocoto special is its thick, juicy flesh (similar to a tomato) and a fruity profile with notes of kiwi or green guava. The heat is persistent and builds slowly.
The fruits ripen to an olive-green or golden-yellow tone, hiding unmistakable jet-black seeds inside. Essential in Andean cuisine, it is perfect for fresh salsas, salads, or the famous Bolivian Llajwa sauce. Its thick walls make it excellent for stuffing or adding texture to gourmet hot sauces.
