The Pimenta-de-Bode (Goat Pepper) is a traditional Brazilian cultivar belonging mainly to the Capsicum chinense species. It is a pillar of regional cuisine, especially popular in the Center-West and Northeast of Brazil. Its curious name is often associated with its strong, characteristic aroma.
This pepper is rated with medium to high heat, generally between 50,000 and 100,000 Scoville Units (SHU). Its standout feature is its aroma: intense, fruity, and unmistakable. On the palate, the flavor is spicy with sweet notes and a fruity touch.
The fruits are small (1 to 2 cm) and round, almost spherical, resembling small cherries. It matures to colors like red (most common), yellow, or purple. The plant is robust and ideal for pots or home gardens.
Indispensable in Brazilian cuisine, it is perfect for feijoada and stews, preserved in vinegar or olive oil, and adding a deep aroma to broths and marinades.
